Responsibilities
- Our office provides assistance applying for Energy Assistance and Renters' Rebate.
- We provide information and referrals to outside agencies that might be able to help with other needs.
- We work cooperatively with the Lymes' Youth Services Bureau, Lymes' Senior Center and the Town Nurse.
Services will be provided confidentially, courteously, and promptly. No one will be discriminated against due to race, religion, gender, age, disability or marital status.

Farmers' Market Nutrition Program
The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program is a supplemental food program for individuals over the age of 60 or those who are disabled and living in housing where congregate nutrition services are provided and meet income eligibility.
Renters' Rebate
Starting April 1, 2025 - application accepted.
Please call Social Services for more information or to schedule an appointment.
State law provides a reimbursement program for Connecticut renters who are elderly or totally disabled, and whose incomes do not exceed certain limits.
Food Pantry
The Social Services office maintains a small food pantry at Town Hall for any Old Lyme residents in need. Donations are welcome all year long. Please consider donating any non-perishable food items, toiletries and/or paper products which can be left in the donation box outside of the Meeting Hall at Town Hall.

Emergency Fund
The Social Services office also gratefully accepts monetary donations for the Emergency Fund as well as gift cards. If you are considering donating a monetary gift or a gift card to help Old Lyme residents in need, please contact Amy directly to make arrangements.
Energy Assistance Program
The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP), helps low-income households pay their primary heat source bills. Energy payments are determined by family size and gross income, and by whether a household is classified as “vulnerable”. Vulnerable households have a member who is under age 6, who is age 60+, or who is any age and disabled
Old Lyme residents can apply:

REQUIRED INFORMATION:
- Social Security numbers and birth dates for all household members
- Current Eversource bill
- Current income documentation for every adult household member
