This week the Board of Selectmen held a Special Meeting to discuss the Sound View and Miscellaneous Area B Sewer Project. All three selectmen decided that the financial figures need to be reevaluated. We do not want to move the project forward until we are confident that the cost estimates are accurate. We will be discussing this further at our Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday. The Cost Sharing Agreement is not finalized as of today. The Sewer Ordinance is 95% complete, but could need a small revision before we move it to a Town Meeting. A copy of that draft can be found here.

The Registrar’s Office has informed me that per Connecticut General Statutes sections 9-253 and 9-453r, they will be holding a ballot lottery on Monday, September 8th, at 2PM, in the Town Clerk’s Office at the Old Lyme Memorial Town Hall.

On Tuesday, the Emergency Management Team will be participating in the 2025 Governor’s Emergency Planning & Preparedness Initiative Exercise. This will take place at Town Hall from 6-10PM. The EPPI for Municipalities and Tribal Nations will be run as a tabletop exercise. The Town of Old Lyme participants will be provided with a scenario (or several scenarios) and discussion questions related to those scenarios. This exercise allows our public safety organizations to work together to solve a problem that could potentially impact Old Lyme.

Please remember that Bound for the Sound will be taking place on Saturday, September 20th. Bound for the Sound has a 5k and 10k road race that begins at Sound View Beach. There is also a one-mile fun run for families. The proceeds from this event benefit the Old Lyme Fire Department Auxiliary.

Enjoy the sunny weather while it lasts. I hear there is some much-needed rain headed our way.

All my best,
Martha
