COVID-19 Update for the Town Clerk’s Office - May 20, 2020   

As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 national pandemic, the Town Clerk’s office remains closed to the public. However, Courtney and I are continuing to perform all functions and services provided by the Town Clerk’s office. We are both readily available by telephone to assist you in any which way we can (860) 434-1605 x 220 (Vicki) or 221 (Courtney).

Elections

The Presidential Preference Primary has been postponed to August 11, 2020. Applications for Absentee Ballots are available on our website and Abstenee Ballots will be mailed to you beginning July 21, 2020. If you already have an application on file, it will be honored for the new primary date. 

Dog licensing

Dog licensing will begin as usual on June 1st.  The law requires that every dog must be licensed once it becomes six months old and then annually every June. Any residents who gets a new dog at any point during the year, must obtain a license for it within 30 days are acquiring the new dog. New dog license applications are available here. For dogs currently licensed, renewals will be mailed out prior to June 1st.  During this pandemic, residents are encouraged to renew/license their dogs by mail. Please submit the dog license application and/or renewal form, current rabies vaccination issued by your veterinarian (rabies must be effective July 1, 2020), check made payable to the “Town of Old Lyme” for the appropriate fee and self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Town Clerk, Town of Old Lyme, 52 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, CT 06371.  Dog license applications and renewals may also be placed in our drop box (located in the front, middle door of the town hall). Pursuant to Governor Lamont’s Executive Order No. 7II, the start date for the imposition of the late fee has been extended from July 1st to August 1st at which time the Town Clerk’s office will begin imposing a late fee of $1.00 per month.

Can be sent via U.S. Mail, UPS, FedEx or drop slot in front door of Town Hall (sealed envelope with your contact information and to attention Town Clerk).
