2022 Old Lyme Mooring Applications now being accepted

--System now Web-based

The Old Lyme Harbor Management Commission, in conjunction with the Harbormaster, is pleased to announce that effective for the 2022 Boating Season, we will be moving the legacy paper-based permitting system to a web-based product. These changes will impact all permit holders, tackle providers and administrative phases of the process.

Adopting the new system will result in a several changes of which applicants need to be aware:

  • All Mooring application and inspection forms will be completed on-line
  • All system generated communications will be sent via email/available on-line
  • The yearly mooring permit fee will increase to $40.00. (Note that the cost of a mooring in Old Lyme has been at a $25.00 level for many years, and remains significantly less than many nearby harbors)
  • An option will be offered for on-line payments, via a secure payment processor. Online payments will include a credit card surcharge fee of 3.75% + a $0.30 process fee (a total of $41.80 for a typical mooring).
  • Alternate payment methods (check) will still be accepted.
  • Once the application form is completed, approved and payment received, the 2022 mooring ball decal will be delivered to the appropriate tackle servicer.
  • Mooring holders from the past several seasons can expect to receive email after 1 March, offering the opportunity to renew their permits via a specific link.
  • New applicants should refer to the Harbormaster/Harbor Commission section of the Town of Old Lyme website for additional information and instructions.

Important reminder:

  • Beginning in May, the Harbor Master will commence routine checks of the mooring fields local waters. Boaters are reminded that moorings without valid permits and/or those that do not comply with the Old Lyme Harbor Ordinance standards for placement or identification may be removed from service without notice, and the associated removal and storage costs will be the responsibility of the owner.
