On Monday, I met with the town engineer and representatives from Frontier, Comcast, Eversource and Crowne Castle at the Grassy Hill Road intersection. We were there to discuss a location change for the telephone pole that is currently in the intersection. This would be the first phase of our project to replace the culvert under the entrance to Grassy Hill Road. The town engineer and I will be hosting an information session to discuss this project with interested residents on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30PM. The Senior Center storage items were returned to the building on Tuesday. Our Public Works team helped unload the truck. Senior Center Director, Stephanie Gould and Assistant to the Director, Caitlin Perkins and I emptied approximately seventy-five boxes to begin the organization process of the move. Strategic Solutions arrived with their crew on Wednesday to make their first delivery of new furniture. We expect the upholstered furniture to be delivered the last week of the month. Volunteers are on site today organizing the library. A week from today, April 18th, the country celebrates the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's ride. The battle that followed on the Lexington Green marked the start of the Revolutionary War. Old Lyme is participating in the national "Two Lights for Tomorrow" initiative, and encourages everyone to display two lights next Friday evening. This not only commemorates the "two if by sea" alert that was seen by militiamen in Boston's Old North Church steeple, it is also a way for the Town to join in the celebration. You can learn more about the history of the roughly 100 men who marched to Lexington from the Lymes here, presented by Old Lyme's America 250 Committee. Please remember that the Town Hall will be closed on Friday, April 18th in observance of the holiday. The Region 18 School System is on spring break next week. For those that are traveling, have a safe trip. If you find the sun on your vacation, please bring it back with you when you return home. All my best, Martha
