From the Desk of Martha Shoemaker

Although the past week at Town Hall has been short due to the Thanksgiving holiday it has been full of excitement and changes. Our swearing-in ceremony on Sunday, November 19^th was well attended by citizens and new commission members and their families.  It was a festive event and we were pleased to have Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz in attendance as she requested the privilege to swear me in earlier this month.

Yesterday the local non-profit groups and the Superintendent of Regional School District 18 attended a short ceremony to bid adieu to Tim Griswold. They presented him with a beautiful handmade quilt as he truly is woven into the fabric of Old Lyme. I personally thank him for the time he has provided to make this transition as smooth as possible in the First Selectman’s office.

The Town staff and I wish all the Old Lyme residents a Happy Thanksgiving. Spending time with family and friends is always special. Take time to reflect on all that you have and be grateful.  Please remember we are closed for the Holiday until Monday, November 27^th.
