Materials for sand bags are available (in front of the gates) at the Public Works garage on Machnik Drive for residents. Please be advised assembly is required for those needing sandbags.
New Connecticut Law Banning the Harvesting Horseshoe Crabs
Public Act 23-6 banning the harvesting of horseshoe crabs from Connecticut waters goes into effect October 1. Fisherman have used them as bait and their blood is also used by the medical profession for its unique properties. Horseshoe crabs are an ancient and fascinating species which can tolerate many changes to their climate. Did you know they have 12 legs and 10 eyes? The bill was passed unanimously by both chambers of the General Assembly earlier this year. “This law says that we need to take a break and let this species regenerate and get back to a state of good health,” said Governor Ned Lamont.
