The Lymes' Senior Center staff are preparing to move into the Town Hall in October, prior to the  start the expansion project. However, that does not mean there will be a slowdown on the Center's offerings of activities. Many will be held in the Town Hall and in other locations around town.

Public Works - Road Work

You may have noticed some road work going on in town. We waited until after Labor Day to start and this week, Rowland Road, McCurdy Road and Beckwith Lane were all milled. Next week they will be paved. Our contractor has been working quickly on these roads despite the heat and humidity. We thank you for your patience and cooperation through the process. The bridge work on Route 156 is a State project and we are not sure the duration of this work.

Old Lyme Land Trust (OLLT) Regatta

This Saturday, September 9, at 1pm Enjoy a two hour guided excursion with experienced kayaker and former OLLT Board member Fred Fenton. Paddlers of all ages are welcome. They will launch from the State Boat Launch on Rogers Lake off of Grassy Hill Road. A US Coast Guard-approved life jacket or vest is required. Bring your own kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard.

Lyme/Old Lyme Food Share Giving Garden

Our Food Share Garden at Town Woods is one of three "giving gardens" in New London County that is being honored for Innovation by the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut's Annual Engagement Awards program. The Award presentation is Wednesday, September 13, at 11:30am at the East Lyme giving Garden (4 Church Lane). Congratulations to Jim Ward, founder of the garden and all the other volunteers who made the garden possible!

This week we wished a fond farewell to Kim Barrows and wish her the best in her well deserved retirement.
