Rest up this weekend as we have a fun filled weekend planned for next week with three beloved annual events.
I-95 Blasting Schedule
Beginning on August 1, 2023, rock blasting along I-95 in East Lyme will take place Monday through Thursday for a period of 6-8 weeks. As a result, I-95 NB/SB will be closed twice a day between the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM for 15 minutes for each blast. Blasting will not take place on Fridays. You can sign up for text alerts, to be notified 30 minutes before blasting starts, and the highway closes.
Midsummer Festival - July 28 & 29
The Midsummer Festival takes place next Saturday, July 29th, with the Friday night kickoff concert on the lawn of the Florence Griswold Museum, followed by the many activities on Saturday. To receive updates during the day of the festival, text midsummer to 888-777 to enroll your cell phone number.
Town Fireworks - July 29
The Old Lyme Town Band will start playing at 7:30pm on Saturday evening on the Lyme Street school campus (behind Center School) and the fireworks will begin shortly after 9pm. A shuttle bus will run, starting at 7pm from the Old Lyme Market Place parking lot (by Bowerbird) to the Middle School driveway, and back until the conclusion of the fireworks. Their last run will be at 10:15pm from the school campus.
Town Ice Cream Social - July 30
To complete the weekend's festivities, the Old Lyme Town Band will again, play on Sunday afternoon at the Lyme Street, South Green (by the Churches) from 4-6pm. This event is sponsored by: the Old Lyme Historical Society, The Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library, the Greater Old Saybrook Chamber, the Florence Griswold Museum and the Lymes' Youth Service Bureau. Complimentary ice cream from Hallmarks will be provided.
Thursday Summer Night Concert Series
The Sound View Concert Series and the Lymes’ Senior Center's - Summer Concert Series are drawing many music lovers. The concerts are free. The Senior Center concert sponsors will scoop complementary ice cream before certain concerts.
This was a busy week with beach and storm water clean up. Thank you to all who helped clear debris from the beaches and edge of the river. Here's hoping our soggy days are behind us for awhile.
