REGULATIONS REWRITE-PHASE I
As of December 9, 2025, the Old Lyme Zoning Commission has completed Phase 1 of its comprehensive zoning regulation update. This year-long technical review resulted in a significant modernization of the regulations, reducing the document from 292 pages to a more streamlined and user-friendly 217-page format.
During Phase 1, the Commission resolved conflicts with Connecticut General Statutes, removed outdated and redundant provisions, and reorganized the regulations to improve clarity, consistency, and ease of use for residents, applicants, and staff.
The Commission now transitions to Phase 2, which will engage the community in substantive conversations about zoning's role in supporting housing and economic development while protecting Old Lyme's environmental and cultural resources.
