The Building Department is in charge of issuing all permits for residential and commercial construction including but not limited to structural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, gas, supplemental heaters, and temporary tents. Inspections of all phases of permitted work are performed and scheduled through the building department’s administrative assistant. Upon completion of work, the Building Department will issue a certificate of occupancy when applicable.

The Building Department will answer code-related questions, enforces the State of Connecticut Building statutes and currently adopted code, receives building complaints, and stop work orders are issued when necessary.

Work that is exempt from obtaining a permit and other helpful information can be found on the Building Forms and Documents page.
