Visiting Nurse
Since first established in 1922, the Old Lyme Visiting Nurse Association has been the public health nursing service of the town. Unique in this day and age of large multi-town agencies, our association exclusively serves the residents of Old Lyme and Lyme.

Our Board of Directors and Associates, all local volunteers, guides our organization and lends their time and efforts to our clinics and services. Town Nurse Karen Veselka, R.N., make a number of home visits a month to residents who need health care coordination, and is available for consultations each Monday to Friday from 11am to 1pm in the nurse's office in the Lymes' Senior Center. These visits are free and no appointment is necessary.

The Association offers a number of clinics and services throughout the year to our townspeople, usually for free or at a reduced and reasonable cost. A Blood Pressure Clinic is scheduled each spring at the Lyme-Old Lyme High School, and in the fall we hold a Flu and Wellness Clinic where health professionals provide free vaccinations and medical screenings.

For those persons newly discharged from a hospital, a nursing home or a convalescent facility in need of continuing services, we work with the Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Connecticut to provide a full range of professionals to continue care in your home. These include nurse, therapists (physical, occupational, speech and language), certified home health aides, companions/homemakers and medical social workers. We hope that, at discharge, when asked about home care service, you will remember to ask for the Old Lyme Visiting Nurse Association.

The Old Lyme Visiting Nurse Association, Inc. continues to strive to deliver quality care to the members of our community, as we have done for 90+ years. Each year we attempt to offer additional services and to anticipate and plan for the ongoing and changing health care needs of our residents. This tradition is reflected in our motto: "Caring for all ages."
