" The mission of the library is to serve as a center of information for the Old Lyme community and to foster the cultural enhancement and development of an informed and knowledgeable community of Old Lyme inhabitants. "

Library Cards:  Given free to Old Lyme residents and property owners. Residents from other Connecticut towns may use their home town library cards.  Children may register when they are five years old and/or enrolled in kindergarten.

Library Services: Reference questions, interlibrary loan, computers for public use, Internet access, dial-in access to the Library's catalog, homebound book delivery, copy machine, and paperback exchange.

Most materials circulate for 3 weeks except: new fiction -- 14 days; videos --2 days or 7 days; equipment --7 days. All items have a 1 day grace period except videos, new fiction, passes, interlibrary loans, equipment

Programs: Story hours, summer reading, workshops, book discussions, and lectures.

Community Room: Non-profit community organizations may reserve the room for programs and meetings. Phone the library secretary at (860) 434-1684 to make reservations.

Art Exhibits: Displays of photographs and paintings are on exhibit throughout the year in the main area of the library.

Materials for Borrowing: Books, magazines, audio and videocassettes, compact discs, pamphlets, and maps.

Non-circulating Collections: Encyclopedias, CD-ROMs, directories, indexes, atlases, newspapers, local histories, and maps.
