SUBJECT: Freedom of Information (FOI) Training Session
There will be a training session that will be conducted by Thomas Hennick of the Freedom of Information Commission (FOIC) of the State of Connecticut on Monday November 17th at 7:30 PM in the Town Hall Meeting Room. This session is open to all Old Lyme elected and appointed officials.
Mr. Hennick is the Public Information Officer for the FOIC and has been employed there since January of 2001. He will speak to us on the main points of the FOI Act, the new FOI web site requirements effective 1 October 2008 and advise us on pitfalls facing municipal officials. I have also asked him to comment on how we should handle requests for information and what the towns are able to charge for producing the same. This includes paper copies, copies of tapes and even data on computer discs.
Please make every effort to attend this important information meeting so that we all may be better informed about the ramifications of FOI.
