TOWN OF OLD LYME
EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
PRESS RELEASE #1

WINTER STORM UPDATE
Thursday
March 8, 2018
For Immediate Release

Currently Eversource is reporting 3217 outages in town.
Many of these are the result of downed trees and powerlines.
Please stay clear of all downed power lines.

To report your outage directly to Eversource,
please call 800-286-2000 or online at www.Eversource.com

To report downed lines or any other emergency situation, call 911

Roadway closures exist on Saunders Hollow Road, Flat Rock Hill Road, Matson Ridge, Whippoorwill Road, Beta Avenue and Johnnycake Hill Road.  These closures are from downed trees and powerlines.  For your safety, please avoid these areas.

Public Works opened the remaining town roads last night and are currently widening them as close to the curbs as possible. As the temperatures rise today, roadway flooding may exist in low lying areas, please exercise extreme caution while driving.

For storm related questions please contact the EOC Call Center at 860-598-0120.

For those without power, the Lymes’ Senior Center opened as a Warming Center today at 9am.  All are welcome to come and relax, charge your electronic devices, access the internet or have some coffee.

The increased weight of melting snow on roofs increases the risk of structural collapse.  Clearing snow off roofs and assisting proper drainage will help reduce the weight accumulation.

Town Hall is open with limited services.

Lyme/Old Lyme Schools are closed.

Shoreline Sanitation garbage and recycling collections are on normal schedule
Residents are reminded NOT to place their containers IN the roadway.
For further information go to www.shorelinesanitation.com.

Please use extreme caution when shoveling and clearing snow from driveways and walkways.  Pacing yourself by doing a little at a time will help avoid injuries.

Critical information will be announced as needed.
